Founder and CEO
RAKKOONFounder and CEO
Jan. 2014 - Dec. 2018BaltimoreRAKKOON developed a social media monitoring platform and associated iOS app that helped parents teach their children how to use social media safely and responsibly. Developed in consultation with psychologists and UX design experts, and following extensive in-home and in-person research with teens and families, the app enabled conversations about sensitive issues between teens and parents, and gave parents insight into their kids’ social media world. The technology routed social media traffic from the child’s mobile device to a private cloud, where advanced machine learning software analyzed the social media traffic and flagged inappropriate content within images and text. The service alerted both parent and child in real time so they could discuss the flagged content and engage in a context-aware teaching moment. Unfortunately, changes in mobile encryption technology and the security policies of the social media platforms restricted and/or blocked access to the data needed to operate the service, and the company was forced to cease operations.
