Oct. 2013 - Apr. 2014Pan-AfricaConceptualised, planned and mapped a 24 country expedition across the African continent, travelling by road (self-drive). Completed 17,000km in 6 months, passing through South Africa, Namibia, Zambia, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The expedition’s overall objective was to investigate what life is really like for ordinary people, countering negative global perceptions of the continent with factual and objective reports and blogs. Also established 16 permaculture food gardens (two in each country) at schools and community centres. The final leg was a harrowing 8 week crossing of the Congo by road and barge from the Ugandan border to Kinshasa. Poor health and dwindling resources forced us to stop there, but the next 16 countries (from Brazzaville to Tataouine) are out there waiting. One day…
