This involved utilizing Cellebrite hardware, software, as well as other forensic tools like EnCase, X-Ways, and FTK. I was proficient in extracting data from both unlocked and locked phones, using various tools or obtaining court orders to unlock the devices when necessary. Furthermore, I was accountable for delivering the forensic case work to the district attorney's office. This involved coordinating with assistant district attorneys, preparing for court proceedings, and presenting the case results during in-court testimony. Additionally, I underwent cross-training and certification as a video forensic investigator by LEVA, and I also attended the IACIS computer forensic training course in Florida. Leveraging my expertise in the field of information technology, I developed scripts and automated numerous manual processes while establishing the NOPD forensic lab. Many of these automated processes are still in use today. Throughout my tenure in digital forensics, I served as a specialized instructor at the NOPD academy, providing training to keep the department's officers and detectives up to date on the best practices and methods for handling electronic devices found at crime scenes. Key investigations: I provided video forensic assistance to the Federal Bureau of Investigation during Super Bowl XLVII, aiding in the investigation of an alleged terrorist activity. Secondly, I conducted direct investigations on the mobile devices of a nationally recognized street gang after they were seized by our MAG unit. Lastly, I conducted cellular forensics and analyzed the on-board computer system in the vehicular homicide case of Officer Rodney Thomas. During my two-year tenure in the Digital Forensics Unit, I processed a total of 573 mobile devices in a forensically sound manner.
