Aug. 2023 - Apr. 2024New York, United StatesShort-term engagement with an Italian systems integrator working with a major luxury brand in New York on the delivery of their new global ecommerce platform. My role was to act as the local liaison/project manager across multiple workstreams. I joined when the project was nearing completion, but it had been facing challenges with the time difference between the development teams and the client as well as language difficulties. I was successful in bringing better coordination and eliminating miscommunication. I managed remote development/test teams based in Europe/India to deliver major elements of the customer’s new ecommerce offering and liaised with other vendors with regards to ecommerce (Salesforce) and formal QA. I took the lead in managing production releases including engaging with the Change Advisory Board, organizing/reviewing release notes, change records and release runbooks. With the remote developers and client’s IT organization, I was part of the team that delivered the technology platform and integrations for the launch of the client’s first country site in Asia in October 2023 as well as for EU sites ahead of their planned rollout in Spring 2024. My role also involved providing guidance and coaching on best practice in Agile development. I was instrumental in cleaning up the client’s Jira board and planning multiple Sprints in advance. Sep. 2015 - Jan. 2020New York CityAfter previous attempts to implement an enterprise Content Management System, I led the first successful delivery by focusing on a minimal viable product first and then building upon that to realize all the features needed to support new digital content production processes. These streamlined processes have reduced the costs and time of creating online course content by a factor of more than 20. I manage a program of multiple projects related to the new eCMS, including the core content management platform, digital asset management, content editing and enhancement, business workflows, taxonomy, content discoverability and publishing to a range of delivery platforms. My teams were mostly based overseas, though some developers were US-based. I also manage a separate project team responsible for the support of legacy tools used for creating and publishing content for the company’s learning platform, LaunchPad. Vendor management is a key area of my responsibilities and I am heavily involved in reviewing and negotiating framework agreements and statements of work. My work requires daily interaction with the editorial, media production, engineering, and product management groups as well as with the finance and legal departments. I am a member of the transformation board charged with changing current production processes to be scalable, driven by standards, automated and with less human intervention. Since early 2017, all new online content has been managed using new workflows and enterprise applications delivered by my projects. Currently working on integrating these applications with new delivery platforms and legacy content repositories. Development methodologies used: Agile/Scrum and Agile/Kanban.

Principal Consultant / Senior Project Manager
Version 1Principal Consultant / Senior Project Manager
Nov. 2007 - Jan. 2010Dublin, IrelandI joined Version 1 on the back of my earlier career as a consultant with the European Commission in Brussels and Luxembourg. While I worked on quite a few projects for the Irish Government sector, I also managed projects for all Irish utility companies. The project I felt most proud of involved a Government Department, who had been mandated by the EU to implement an auditing system to track and report EU funds being distributed to local projects across Ireland. Two other IT organizations had tried and failed to deliver the required application. By the time, Version 1 were invited to take on the project, we had less than 13 weeks to deliver. We succeeded by starting completely afresh, working in an iterative fashion with requirements workshops every week to identify and build a minimal viable product. Had the project not been successful, Irish regional projects would have lost access to EU funds in the region of €500 million. Our success with this project resulted in a number of similar projects for the Irish Government. On the Utilities side, one notable project I managed was to build a forecasting and trading solution for a major Wind Power company. With input from industry experts, my team built a complex modelling system that maximized day-ahead energy trades and that consistently out-performed human traders. The complexity of the solution was such that we also had to build a simulation add-on to prove that every update maintained the quality of the forecasts and proposed trades. The solution initially was used for one wind farm, but was extended to cover three more farms, resulting in energy trades of €5-10 million per day. All projects involved bespoke development as well as procurement and commissioning of infrastructure to run the resulting systems. Key technologies involved in these projects include Oracle RDBMS, php, Apache, xml, Oracle BI, MS SharePoint, RedHat Linux, Perl, Python, Java & JavaScript. Development models used: Waterfall, Agile & Iterative.
