Oct. 2014 - Nov. 2018Greater San Diego AreaLed all marketing and communications operations to promote positive public image for AREAA, North America’s largest AAPI trade organization, Working hand in hand with top executives from some of the world’s largest real estate companies, I consistently created effective marketing and communication campaigns designed to reach an emerging AAPI real estate market using both organic and inorganic strategies. Worked in coordination with various organizations such as NAREB, NAHREP, NAR, NAGLREP, VAREP, and others in creating a national dialogue with relevant housing governmental agencies such as HUD, FHFA, and the US Census Department. Spearheaded all aspects of state and federal policy initiatives, from research to execution, including drafting our annual policy plan. Trained members on policy goals and talking points, and led groups to their meetings with their members of the U.S. Congress to advocate our positions. Achieved significant policy successes as part of these efforts, and in concert with other housing non-profits, including the creation of a standalone AAPI category on the US Census’ Quarterly Housing and Vacancy Report, the elimination of the so-called “1% rule” on student debt, alternative credit models for “credit invisible” minorities and immigrants, the removal of the citizenship question from the 2020 US Census.
