NUVO / OKOManagement Director
Jan. 2010 - Dec. 2022Beginning at just the age of 19 years old, I first started working as bar support staff and shadowed managers going up in stages. At the age of 24 when I was in a management position I changed Birmingham nightlife scene for good. I turned the place around completely from doing £5000 on Saturday evenings up to £30,000. At the age of 27 I noticed a huge gap in the market in the city of Birmingham, that we were missing a high end Japanese restaurant. I worked hard on my research and finally made it happen, using the ground floor of the venue, I birthed OKO. OKO quickly occupying one of the cities best restaurants. My concept behind OKO was simple, the culture had changed, people now eat with their eyes, people go out to take a picture in a nice setting. My point being, it’s not good enough anymore to just produce good food, the food has to look as good as it tastes (content - marketing). The venue has to look appealing, inviting, whilst using subtle hints of trends. Which is exactly what I did, carefully planning each dish presentation with chefs and floor staff, as well as cocktail glasses and garnishes. The standard simply cannot slip. Sadly OKO and Nuvo closed in 2022, due to financial difficulties due to Covid.
