Our aim was to help digitally savvy South Africans get into the driving seat by taking control of their finances with the support of a digital coach. The business was openly architected, enabling both the integration of partner components as well as the potential re-use of GetUp components. This business was established as a prototype within Metropolitan to accelerate digital access. As a member of the management committee and founding leadership team, my focus was on the running and optimizing of the market access and consumer interaction functions of the business. As a start-up building out a full-service digital financial services offering, we worked with cutting-edge technology to ensure chat and self-service enabled channels as an alternative to the more traditional face-to-face and call-centre focused financial services. We built the first straight-through funeral sales web application in-house and a chat bot in collaboration with our technology partner.

I led a young marketing team, and I had to inspire, guide, and grow a team of marketing professionals and partners to successfully implement and execute the marketing strategy. Stakeholder management and collaboration were required to ensure the successful implementation of marketing and business development initiatives. I was accountable for setting and managing the marketing budget, as well as analytics and reporting to management and executive teams.
