Apr. 2006 - Feb. 2008Reuters already had a group in BKK but was generally operating as a standard offshore model of maintenance and testing. My goal was to build an 'other shore' model ( http://proteus-tech.com/concept/othershore/ ) group. When I arrived I had a team of 6 already capable developers working on two technologies, C++ and C#. We acquired an application written in Java (which I performed technical due diligence on) so I built a strong java team from local talent I recruited. By the end of the year I had expanded the team to 26 developers, released two major projects and managed 6 more with C++, C#, Java, and Python languages. I lead the introduction of SOA capabilities in the organization and introducing Open Source/Open Standards. This was a strategic realignment for the Collaboration group and other projects are now following suit. I have also led the introduction of Agile development methodologies as an alternative or augmentation to their existing SEI/CMMI processes.
