Jan. 2004 - Jul. 2019Savannah GAI worked as a full time faculty member (Professor of Interior Design) for fifteen years in the department of Interior Design within the School of Building Arts, Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). As a part of the core faculty, I contributed greatly to the interior design department getting its CIDA (Council for Interior Design Accreditation) accreditation. Another one of my significant contributions was developing and improving the undergraduate and graduate level lighting courses. Responsibilities included teaching a variety of undergraduate and graduate level courses, collaborating with faculty, administrators, and industry professionals, taking part in admissions events and activities, conducting student advisement, contributing to the field of interior architecture and design locally, nationally and globally, serving as thesis chair and thesis committee member for a variety of graduate students' thesis projects, mentoring teaching assistants, and participating in academic and scholarship councils. SCAD Interior Design department has been recognized as the #1 ranked interior design program in the U.S. β DesignIntelligence | 2012-2013-2014-2015-2016-2017-2018-2019-2020 Courses taught: Applied Interior Lighting, Lighting for the Interior, Lighting and Human Health, Contemporary Issues in Interior Design, Human Response to the Built Environment, History of Interior Design, Rendering for the Interior, Introduction to Interior Design, Interior Design Studio I, II, III, IV, V, VI, Interior Design Studio I, II and IV (grad.), Interior Design Theory & Criticism, Environmental Psychology for Design, Interior Design Seminar, Emerging Interior Materials.
