There's something special about being the person everyone turns to when they need HR guidance, and I've been fortunate to spend more than a decade as a "Department of One," where I got to wear every hat and tackle every challenge that came my way.
My career has been shaped by some pretty incredible opportunities. At the National Marine Manufacturers Association, I had the privilege of serving as Vice President of Human Resources for 15 years, supporting a vibrant community of 600 employees across the U.S. and Canada. During that time, I helped open and integrate five new offices and associations, each one a unique puzzle that taught me something new about bringing people and systems together seamlessly. I partnered closely with our Board of Directors on compensation strategy, created succession plans for our leadership team, and had the rewarding experience of implementing three major HRIS systems (Paychex, ADP, and Paycom) without missing a beat in employee services.
One of my proudest moments came earlier in my career at Marshall Associates, where I was asked to do something that seemed almost impossible: hire and onboard 250 employees across six states in just 90 days. Not only did we pull it off, but we created an experience that set those employees up for success from day one. That same spirit of "let's figure this out together" led me to conduct a comprehensive HR audit that identified significant compliance issues, and I'm proud that we not only fixed the problem but saved the company $200K annually in the process.
