Run the World Race SeriesDirector of Community Engagement, Run the World Race Series
May. 2015 - Jul. 2020Kent, Ohio The Run the World project began in 2015 as a single 5K scholarship fundraiser, with a simple mission: raise money for education abroad scholarships for Kent State students, regardless of their major. In just two short years, the Run the World project has grown tremendously with over 500 participants for the Run the World 5K in 2016 and the addition of two more races at the Stark Campus and Kent Stateβs Florence Center in Italy. The Run the World Fund has been able to award over $22,000 in scholarships for students to study abroad. On Saturday, September 9, 2017, the 3rd annual Run the World 5k will take place on Kent Campus and will inaugurate the Run the World Race Series, which includes a second race at the Stark Campus on April 14, 2018. This new Race Series will allow us to award even more scholarships. Students who register for the Race Series will be eligible for a $2,500 scholarship, in addition to the $1,000 scholarships they may receive from either the Kent or Stark races. The Run the World project is a collaborative effort of colleges, regional campus and the Office of Global Education at Kent State University.
