Sep. 1997 - Jul. 2017BBC Radio 1 & 1XtraMy career at the BBC was at an exciting time when radio evolved from solely 'on air' to the world of digital audio content. I pioneered many firsts in creating innovative content for live broadcast, in app and on social media. Key achievements: Devised a strategy and restructured 1Xtra’s daytime output. Uplifted assets of the station with the aim to increase listening and social engagement – including introducing new talent and re-launching the 1Xtra Breakfast Show. Produced the Gold Sony Award winning Chris Moyles Show. Developed the format and launched Radio 1's longest running Breakfast Show increasing the audience by over 1.5 million.
Led ‘World Cup freestyles’; a project which saw 1Xtra’s Facebook page increase 600% in engagement during one week and rise by 10,000 subscribers on 1Xtra’s YouTube Channel. 1Xtra Live – Led the network’s flagship annual event in Birmingham. Collaborated and formed partnerships with record companies, outreach community groups, local media to produce distinctive content and connect with the audience. Resulted in 1Xtra Live winning the Diversity Award at the BBC Radio Awards. ‘Destination Africa’ – a pan BBC project celebrating Afrobeats. Led collaborations with World Service, BBC Africa Global News. Involved live sessions recorded in Nigeria, social media coverage, a documentary and 5 hour special. Forged partnerships within the BBC and in Africa, resulting in the project reaching 70 million people around the world.
Initiated the idea for the visualisation & short form content of the Official Chart Show in 2011.
Led major broadcast projects including Radio 1's Big Weekend and Glastonbury.
