Pete Morgan TechnologyCurrent Engagement - Cloud Migration Project
Jan. 2026BundabergCLIENT: Best Practice Software | Bundaberg, Queensland After an 18-month tenure as Systems Engineer, Best Practice Software engaged me via my company, Pete Morgan Technology, to transition their endpoint management environment from a co-managed SCCM and Intune state to fully cloud-managed Intune — and to hand it over in a state their own engineers could manage independently. KEY OUTCOMES • Audited the full environment in month one — documenting every policy, application, and configuration across overlapping systems. That discovery governed the approach: fix the foundations first, then migrate. • Migrated 45 of 60 business applications to the new cloud platform in month one — three months ahead of plan. • Rebuilt 102 legacy device policies from scratch into 51 clean Intune cloud policies across a two-tier architecture. • Restructured the user and device hierarchy to match the actual business structure — directorates and streams. 263 users mapped and migrated. • 88% complete and on target for July 2026 handover.

Best Practice SoftwareSystems Engineer
Jun. 2024 - Dec. 2025Bundaberg, QLDJoined a four-person infrastructure team supporting BAU across on-premises, Azure, and hybrid environments. Delivered Windows 11 fleet migration, Patch Tuesday compliance to 95%, and infrastructure project backlog clearance. Transitioned to contractor engagement on completion. KEY OUTCOMES • Brought Patch Tuesday fleet compliance to a consistent 95% each month — overhauled automatic deployment rules, WSUS integration, and SCCM client health to get there. • Designed an 11-month Windows 10 end-of-life rollout plan to match the business's appetite for change. Completed it in 3 months — 100% of the fleet migrated to Windows 11 with zero user issues. • Rebuilt the SCCM application catalogue — updated all 65 applications to current versions, restructured assignments using AD security group abstraction for simple user-to-app provisioning, and reorganised users into org chart groups for department-level deployment. That abstraction model is still in use and is being lifted directly into Intune under the current engagement. • Replaced ageing, out-of-warranty Dell switches and consumer-grade Ubiquiti wireless with a full Meraki stack — cloud-managed switching and wireless across multiple sites from a single pane of glass. • Audited 121 on-premises and Azure servers — identified ownership, dependencies, and security posture; retired, upgraded, or fortified assets based on a structured plan.
