Sep. 2006 - Aug. 2012Victoria, BC• Responsible for managing staff of twenty: 4 Systems Analysts (Faculty), 3 Web Developers, 9 Server Administrators (Linux, Windows), 2 Application Support and 2 Network Analysts. • Responsible for managing budget of over two million dollars (Operating and Capital), as well as managing purchasing/renewal of College-wide infrastructure and software. Budget development and forecasting.
• Creating highly productive teams from a diverse group of individuals including staff from two separate unions plus contractors. Boosting team morale and decreasing absenteeism. • Bringing project management principles to College and delivering completed projects as promised.
• Initiating ITIL Service Management methodologies – Change Management, Incident Management, Problem Management, Release Management, and Configuration Management as well as Risk Management, and Service Level Agreements.
• Plan and implement upgrades to production level environment for ERP systems, applications and web sites including hardware and software migration, business continuity planning (back-up and recovery, virtualization) performance monitoring, capacity monitoring and planning.
• Developing/coaching staff, including recruitment, development, training plans and performance management.
• Implementing Enterprise Architecture – documenting current college technologies and setting future college technical direction.
• Manage the development of standards and best practices for use of technology, data security, web design and use of social media.
• Portfolio Management – receiving and evaluating project requests, prioritizing and managing college projects, creating project plans, project charters, business cases, briefing notes, etc.
• Risk Management - identifying, assessing, and prioritizing risks and updating the risk register and developing a risk management plan including mitigating or solving risk issues.
• Client Meetings to hear concerns and set expectations.
