Answer incoming calls for requests and inquiries relating to FMLA, Maternity/Paternity Leave, Personal, Military, Short Term and Long-Term Disability
Determine eligibility for FMLA, ADA, state specific leaves, other company approved leaves of absence and appropriate disability programs, if applicable.
Help employees interpret leave policies in accordance with state and local employment laws
Consult with Medical Accommodations and Workers Compensation when necessary
Work with third party disability vendor regarding proper documentation and payment status
Assist the Accommodations Team to provide employees with required assistive equipment upon return to work from disability
Independent judgment, a high level of confidentiality, and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment
Maintain accurate LOA files and complete paperwork for all leave cases, maintain records for audit purposes
Assess, adjudicate, and track all FMLA claims in a timely manner
Proficient knowledge of leave as an accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
Work collaboratively Payroll and/or other HR functional areas to resolve more complex inquiries or issues.
Update employee status in HRIS with appropriate leave status, make any necessary salary changes if applicable Maintain positive working relationships with multiple union delegates and supervisors to foster beneficial labor and Associate relations.
Hold union grievance meetings; determine outcomes of all grievances, successfully keeping the company out of arbitration.
Conduct monthly audits to ensure store compliance with all state and federal laws, company rules and regulations, and multiple union contracts.
Acquiring and maintaining i-9 employment verification for current and potential employees.
