Associate Editor
Zoetic PressAssociate Editor
Sep. 2018 - Oct. 2019United StatesVolunteer position. Zoetic Press is a digital press created, owned and run by Lise Quintana. Currently, Zoetic Press is on indefinite hiatus. I worked on ZP's literary journal, NonBinary Review, described as: "NonBinary Review is the literary journal of Zoetic Press. Four times a year, we reach back into history for a piece of our collective past, and invite authors to interact with it in new and innovative ways. We take existing works of fiction in the public domain, and invite authors to re-invent those works. From Grimm’s fairy tales to Sun Tzu’s The Art of War, we look for authors to fill in some backstory, apply the plot to new situations, or take the characters in new directions." As an editor, I read through all submissions to NonBinary Review, including fiction, non-fiction and poetry, which not all of our editors volunteered to do, but I wanted to read a variety of submissions. We voted on who to put in the editions as well as made comments and notes to Lise is we wanted to recommend any changes to the author. Editors also reviewed and voted on original artwork that was submitted both for the interior of the journal and for the cover. I designed the covers for Dante's Inferno (December 2018) and for Clive Barker's The Books of Blood (March 2019) using submitted artwork and following Lise's guidelines. Bright Crescent StudiosOwner + Graphic Designer
Aug. 2011TelecommuteThis business and work needed a re-fresh, so in 2020, that's what I have done. Siostra is now BRIGHT CRESCENT STUDIOS. A link for this will soon appear on my site www.laramckusky.com. I know that the common advice is to become really good at one thing. However, I can't say "No" to a few things: a challenge, a business person that clearly needs assistance in branding, and a project that lights my fire. This has resulted in my having a rather eclectic portfolio. I have done a lot of logos, but in the last few years, I have also done a ton of print work, from brochures, to business cards, to postcards and jewelry backers. In the last twelve months, I have worked on websites and a lot of web graphics suitable for all manner of social media. Wedding invitations are now officially in my portfolio, as is a logo that is being used on an iOS app. All exciting things that I was happy to work on! I will no longer be taking commissions except on an extremely limited, case-by-base basis. Instead, I will be focusing on designing work I love and am drawn to and want to do.

Jan. 2009 - Jul. 2020www.lalanetwork.comI worked on this personal blog off and on for over ten years. I started on Blogger, hopped to Weebly for a brief period of time and then created a personal website at www.lalanetwork.com. At this time, all of my work felt it needed to be re-vamped and updated, so I will no longer be adding to LaLa Land. I have started a new blog called The Dark Sisters which is part of my new site, www.laramckusky.com. Previously: As a blogger and reviewer, I received ARC books from independent PR companies, big publishing houses and authors directly. I was selected a Diana Gabaldon Fan Ambassador. I was on the PBS Viewer Like You Advisory Panel. I wrote a blog post on my very first blog with Blogger, called "How The Little Engine That Could Perpetuates Gender Stereotypes." It was noticed in 2009 by NPR's All Things Considered. If not for FB and their distribution of messages, I would have received the note from a staff member asking if I would like to be a part of their podcast. I missed it. However. They still linked to my blog post. Find the link below to that blog post.
