Work Background
Data Analyst
ICFData Analyst
Feb. 2025Houston, Texas, United StatesAt ICF, I contributed to the development and optimization of data workflows supporting the Proteomics Data Commons platform. I created automated pipelines and back-end tools using Python, R, Bash, and GraphQL to streamline multi-omics data retrieval and ensure reproducibility. My work included building an interactive export feature that enabled one-click access to complex datasets and authoring user documentation to enhance platform usability. Working within Agile methodology and using Jira, I collaborated with developers, scientists, and data engineers to align project goals, prioritize deliverables, and ensure rapid iteration. This experience sharpened my skills in cross-functional teamwork, scientific communication, and product-focused data science.

Senior Bioinformatics Analyst
Baylor College of MedicineSenior Bioinformatics Analyst
Jun. 2023 - Feb. 2025Houston, Texas, United StatesAt THINC, I led multi-omics data analyses to uncover biomarkers, gene regulation patterns, and molecular mechanisms relevant to personalized medicine. I applied machine learning and statistical models to integrate large-scale datasets from public (TCGA, DepMap, Sanger) and internal sources, focusing on classification, prediction, and feature discovery. My work involved developing production-ready pipelines in Python and R, analyzing RNA-seq and proteomics data, and identifying mis-splicing events using tools like rMATS and STAR. I collaborated closely with researchers and data scientists to ensure analytical outputs aligned with translational research goals. This role expanded my expertise in biomarker discovery, regulatory genomics, and applying data science to drive therapeutic insights.
Senior Research Scientist
Salarius PharmaceuticalsSenior Research Scientist
Jul. 2021 - Nov. 2022Houston, Texas, Estados UnidosPerforms standard molecular procedures for studying the effect of the Seclidemstat drug in multiple tumors. I hit multiple goals to understand the MoA of Seclidemstat in specific tumor types. As part of my responsibilities, I aim to implement actions regarding safety. As a bioinformatician, my responsibilities are the omics data analysis for the identification of additional indications for Seclidemstat and most recently, for the characterization of the gene signature of patient-derived samples treated with Seclidemstat.

Postdoctoral Fellow
MD Anderson Cancer CenterPostdoctoral Fellow
Sep. 2019 - Jul. 2021Houston, Texas, United StatesHired by the Samir Hanash’s laboratory to characterize the proteome signature of the Triple Negative Breast Cancer. Later, my responsibilities were extended toward the discovery of novel therapeutic targets for multiple tumor types and for the development of a new immunopeptide vaccine for breast cancer. Also, as a bioinformatics scientist, I provided solutions to complex data questions, by applying data processing, analysis and data visualization.
Postdoctoral Research Scientist
University of California San DiegoPostdoctoral Research Scientist
Dec. 2016 - Mar. 2020San DiegoHired as a postdoctoral fellow by Sigurdson’s lab at UCSD. My job was to study the effect of glycans on the structure and transmissibility of prions, organizing lab, data analysis, data interpretation, generation of reports, and results presentation.

Jan. 2012 - Jul. 2016Santiago de Compostela y alrededores, EspañaSelected as a PhD trainee in prion’s lab in 2012 at CiMUS. My responsibilities were to study the structural properties of prions, organize the lab, record and data analysis, generation of reports, and results presentation.
Master Thesis
Instituto de Salud Carlos IIIMaster Thesis
Oct. 2010 - Jul. 2011Centro Nacional de Microbiología, Majadahonda, Madrid.Enrolled in the National Center of Microbiology as part of the master’s degree program. My job was to develop a method to detect the tumor-associated strains of the Hepatitis B Virus. This method is being used as a standard procedure for detecting individuals with high risk of developing liver cancer.

Jan. 2010 - Jun. 2010Haartman InstituteYersinia pseudotuberculosis is a Gram-negative bacterium that causes disease in humans and animals. Specially, in humans,Y. pseudotuberculosis is a cause of food-borne associated illness with symptoms of fever and abdominal pain, and sometimes diarrhoea. The major virulence factor pathogen in Y. pseudo tuberculosis is the lipopolysaccharide (LPS) that is formed by Lipid A, inner and outer core and O-antigen, the most distal component of the LPS. During my Training Lab course, I could inactivate wbyM gene, that it is thought that could be the gene encoding the paratosyl transferase protein that catalyze the transfer of paratose-f (Parf ) monosaccharide sugar to mannose (6-deoxy-D-manno-heptose). The inactivation of wbyM result in a incomplete translocation of paratose or inefficient ligation into the O-unit core. The data obtained later confirm that the wbyM gene encodes the protein that transfer Parf to 6dmanHep, resulting to assemble of the full O-unit in the O-antigen biosynthesis pathway of Y. pseudoruberculosis O:1a.
