I’m a software / solution architect & engineer. I started web development in 1998 and over the years I had a wide experience on web and mobile technologies. I’m attracted to challenges, problem-solving and R&D, and I'm passionate about product development, while excited for all kinds of technologies. I believe in brainstorming and creative thinking as ways to drive innovation and increase solution success. I've had lead positions in the past and worked fluently with agile methodologies. Most recently I worked in UI development for robotics (in the past 2.5 years), though I still have a special crush on Game Design / Development, not yet fulfilled. I was initially hired with the role of Software Architect for the team responsible for maintaining the legacy front-end application, while also acting as a Team Lead, aiming to grow the team to a comfortable number of developers. From the 1st year of work, we managed to achieve a new release in August 2022. Within the 1st year I understood the urgent need for improvement, and proposed an architectural solution for the development of a new application to replace the legacy software. This proposal was accepted, resulting in a PoC which gave way to a new product, for which I was then "Product co-Owner", together with our UX specialist and the Head of Software Development. Since the development of the PoC I promoted the use of agile methodologies as a way to help maintain our product backlog and used sprints to facilitate product management and development, while always overseeing solution and software architecture and also participating in development activities. Mar. 2012 - Jun. 2012LeiriaIn a time when unemployment was rising in Portugal, there was a TV show named Pros&Contras where this subject was discussed with a panel of people, aiming at suggesting solutions to the Portuguese people. On this TV Show, a Portuguese entrepreneur Manuel Forjaz gave the motto to create an initiative aiming at facilitating connections between the Portuguese entrepreneurship network and the people looking for new opportunities, incentivising them to create their own jobs/companies. In a short time, a team was spawn out of anonymous citizens, which supported the creation and organization of local teams throughout Portugal, from North to South. As a web developer and owner of a platform to develop and deploy websites (RocketCMS), I joined the core team and facilitated the creation of the main organization website, where all the information for ongoing events was posted, while also helping to maintain the facebook pages related to each of the events. Because I was based in Leiria, I organized the creation of Leiria's local team for MF24, and coordinated all efforts with both the core MF24 team and the local MF24Leiria team to make the event happen. In the end we managed to have a 48h non-stop program in a fantastic venue (thanks to https://www.ipleiria.pt/esecs/ ). Mar. 2020 - May. 2020Reach4Help is an open-source project, being put together by a group of volunteers scattered all over the globe, spanning from software developers, infrastructure engineers, designers, marketeers and all sorts of people who share the same dream: Deliver Help Worldwide, wherever it's needed the most. Our goal is based on the fact that wherever help is needed, there are also amazing Human Beings willing to help others. So our project just aims at connecting them. At the moment the world lives a crisis caused by the corona virus pandemic, and there are lots of people at high risk from exposure, or simply quarantined, unable to get essential goods without putting themselves or others at risk. This was the "de facto" motivation to kickstart this project, although it will outlive this crisis and continue to enable getting help to those in need. We aim at facilitating support requests from people in need, acting as a bridge to deliver them to volunteers or volunteer organizations, such as government organizations, churches, local Red Cross establishments, who will then proceed to help. I'm responsible for coordinating the UX (user experience) on any products that we may develop, focusing right now on our mobile web application.
