Earthtone ConstructionCEO
Jan. 1998 - Sep. 2023Sebastopol, CaliforniaYears ago, when I was an apprentice and later a journeyman carpenter, I worked around many different personalities. Some guys would just be putting in their eight hours and couldn’t wait to get done. Others, like me took great pride in their work and the days went by fast. For us, it wasn’t about the hours, it was about the product and the joy of it. Sure, we needed a decent paycheck, but doing what we loved made a difference to our quality of life compared to the “clock-watchers”. I thought to myself that if I ever wanted anything done for me, I’d want it done by people with a passion for their craft, because it appeared to me that the quality of the product would be superior. I also believed that the passion and mindfulness would be absorbed into the very structure itself. Later, when I founded Earthtone, I intentionally set out to surround myself with likeminded individuals and create a place where that passion and mindfulness could shine. I knew that to attract those people, I’d need to create a unique and exciting work environment where our people could thrive and grow and have passion in whatever they do and of course get paid a good wage while doing it. I knew that it would be incumbent on me and later the people that came on board to not only have that same passion, but also be invested in each other and those who would come later. Today, twenty years on, I am proud to continue that path with those I work with by my side. I’m proud to be part of this community and help others succeed in what they do. And I’m proud to be part of a company that creates amazing space for our customers, our trade partners and our employees. I’ll continue to do everything I can to help people be successful in achieving their dreams. Whether that dream be a new home for a customer or any building project. And I have that same commitment for our people and their own dreams and successes, whether that be career growth or other self-development.
