Jun. 2022Las Palmas, Canary Islands, Spain · RemoteI undertake Project Management at Wedge Global for the FLORA project - an EU-funded project that will produce an industrial-scale prototype of a novel, offshore, multi-use platform (MUP). The main innovation is the technical configuration of a 'tri-brid' energy system that supports radar and environmental ocean sensors. Essentially we are developing a specialised, self-powered, floating radar station for offshore bird-tracking and sub-sea sensing. Our proprietary wave energy technology designs have formed the basis of the first-of-a-kind ocean station and our know-how has unlocked now design possibilities where engineering is concerned as well as business applications.

In that context I identify opportunities to maximize our value proposition in step with our growth objectives. I'm a thought leader on our innovation agenda with the aims of impact, expansion and sustainability - in all forms. As a business engineer, I generate novel business opportunities as well as the partnerships and business models to serve those opportunities. Fortunately I enjoy the freedom to originate new ideas and, more importantly, to nurture innovative & inspirational ideas generated by others. As a proposal writer I undertake all stages of proposal development including ideation, drafting and iteration. In 2022 I successfully drafted an innovation funding proposal to clinch €1M from the European Commission’s EMFAF (European Maritime Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund). Consequently I have since implemented a pre commercial pilot project and have kicked off the commercialisation journey with a motivated and growing engineering team.
