Verhalen die verteld moeten worden omdat ze gaan over wat ons nu raakt, over de tragiek van, en het optimisme over de diverse samenleving, hier en over de grens. RAST heeft de kracht een persoonlijk gezicht te geven aan conflicten en culturen die voor veel mensen ver van hun bed lijken. RAST maakt haar verhalen samen met nieuwe makers, schrijvers en acteurs. De theatergroep heeft een eigen vorm om conflicten een persoonlijk gezicht te geven: in muzikale voorstellingen waar de humor de tragiek op de hielen zit. Daarmee trekt RAST in heel Nederland – maar bij internationale producties ook in Europa, Turkije en Irak – een divers samengesteld publiek. Het theater dat RAST maakt kan niet de wereld veranderen, maar wel de kijk op problemen en mensen verbinden die tegenover elkaar dreigen te staan. Die nieuwe verhalen vertellen we met het scala van vormen dat het moderne theater biedt: van muziektheater en vertelkunst tot klassieke libretto’s. Jan. 2015Amsterdam en omgeving, NederlandEstablished in May 1999 by founder and director Laura Hassler, and registered as a charitable foundation in 2000, Musicians Without Borders is the world’s pioneer in using music for peacebuilding and social change. Laura mobilized her network of socially conscious musicians to create an organization dedicated to using music to bridge divides, connect communities and heal the wounds of war. The organization’s first long term project, the Music Bus, brought music, dance and theater to children in Srebrenica and its neighboring towns and refugee camps. Following the success of the Music Bus, Musicians Without Borders was invited to conferences and cultural events in Kosovo and in Palestine, which would later lead to two of its founding programs, the Mitrovica Rock School and Palestine Community Music. In the years that followed, Musicians Without Borders expanded to include programs in Central Eastern Africa, Central America and Europe.
