• Attended 2 to 4 Arms Trade shows in different countries each year negotiating the best solutions with local importers and international suppliers.
• Problem solving and providing solutions for clients moving restricted cargo and intervening with Public Servants, Ministers, DOD etc as and when required.
• Nominated as the import agent for SAPS firearms into South Africa.
• Maintenance and ensuring up to date compliance to Traffic, Explosives, Military, Civilian Police, Aviation and Customs & Excise regulations.
• Recruitment, selection and appointment of new staff and managing the onboard training.
• Managing operational and compliance for staff and ensuring all KPI’s are met. Ensuring all staff annual training and documents necessary to operate are kept up to date.
• Rate and contact negotiations with international and local suppliers on all levels. (2pl, 3pl & 4pl).
• Ensuring that necessary contracts were in place and negotiating terms. Managing SLA’s and ensuring that all providers were adhering to agreed terms.
• Negotiating rates with all major shipping lines, airlines and ground transporters.
• Processing, checking and signing off customs import and export entries.
• Confirming airline and shipping line bookings.
• Processing and signing off all forex payments.
• Reconciliation of each shipments profit and loss and ensuring that all costs had been accounted for and recovered before closing a project off.
• Obtaining the required permits including but not limited to:
o Police Import, Export and Transit Permits
o Civil Aviation Dangerous Goods Exemption permits & landing rights for charter flights
o DCAC (Department of Convention of Arms Control) permits
o Explosives Permits
• Controlling the inspections with:
o Border police
o Customs
o Explosives Police
o DCAC (Department of Convention of Arms Control) Inspectors
o CBCU detentions
