Dec. 2021In my role as a social worker at the Department of Social Development, I primarily handle statutory duties. Guided by Children’s Act (chapter 5.06), I work closely with children facing significant harm and ensure assessment is done within time frameworks. For effective assessment the main tool used is the Record of Information and it has the three domains of assessment which help in putting plans in place to support their safety, growth and development in accordance and in the best interest of the child. In non-statutory settings at the Department I work with children and vulnerable Adults. I am bonded with the Older Persons Act chapter (17.11) of 2005, this legislation helps in protecting vulnerable populations.

Jan. 2021 - May. 2021Undertaking Child protection Inquiries as dictated by the Children’s Act ( chapter 5:06). Ensuring that adults receive appropriate support through interviewing children and conducting both one to one visit as well as home visits to understand the children and adults’ circumstances and experiences. Undertaking assessments for children facing significant harm to identify their protection needs and determine best outcomes. Using relevant tools to develop care and protection plans to promote best outcomes for children in need of care and children likely to or experiencing significant harm respectively. Making referrals for children in need of care and protection services to partners for further management of cases. Reviewing care and protection plans to implement progress and making necessary adjustments to ensure best outcomes for children and families served. Collaborating with families and communities to identify and promote existing childcare plans. Supervising juvenile delinquents placed under the supervision of the Probation Officer to promote positive behavior change. Documenting cases and record keeping ensuring easy tracking and management of child protection cases.
