Mar. 2003 - Jan. 2014Gimpydog Productions is an independent film and media production company founded in 2002 by Colby Hanik, Aaron Covich, Eric Krueger, and Adam Sawyer. They have produced the feature films "Miles Away..." and "Envying Alice," the second of which was the winner of the 2004 International DV Awards for Best Full Length Drama. Colby Hanik’s feature script, “Finch by Finch” was an official selection for the Queens International Film Festival in November 2006. Gimpydog Productions has also received critical acclaim for their multimedia productions with Oracle Theatre in Chicago, being heralded as “technological wizards” by TimeOut Chicago for their ambitious production of Stephen Belber’s “Tape”. Aaron and Colby have gone on to work with Oracle Theater on 6 more critically acclaimed stage shows, including Max Truax's vision for Termen Vox Machina. The Gimpydog team also finds the time to continue being creative working with local bands focusing on web based promotional videos, small documentaries and music videos, each of which caters to the bands individual needs. Gimpydog Production has now joined forces with Fire When Ready, a sketch comedy group focusing on comedic short films and Graham Cracker Films run by Tony Mendoza. The groups most recent success was winning 2nd place for the 2009 Film Race in Chicago, www.filmracing.org. But also garnered 6 additional awards for: Best direction, best lead actress, best make up, best set design, best costume design, and best editing. The groups are currently working on a number of short films and feature scripts and will continually be looking to produce the best possible films.
