Nov. 2007 - Mar. 2015Durban Area, South AfricaUpgraded Bayside Aluminium's old Schneider PLCs to Quantum PLCs, rewrote the code in Concept FBD and upgraded their InTouch SCADA mimics accordingly. S88 modeling and wrote the DDS's for SAB Rosslyn’s Project Jaldi. Rewrote SAB Prospecton’s Ammonia Condenser control and Racking Centrifuges control. Rewrote Harmony Gold Mines Mills Lubrication Control system. Programmed and configured a Line Performance and MIS System for ABI Phoenix's new Packaging Line 6, involving all the machines. The Line Performance System was based on the OMAC Packaging Standards and made use of the Wonderware Performance Modules and MS Reporting Services. Programmed SAB Prospecton's Brew House 1 Mash Tun and Lauter Tun and integrated it into the existing Brew House Batch System using RsBatch. Then Programmed the CIP of CIP5 project, the CO2 Purging of the Filter Powder Aids Tanks. Programmed the Lime Slaking Plant at Harmony Gold Mine, Central Plant. Consulted to Blue Projects in Bucharest, Romania on a upgrade project at Ursus Brewery in Buzau, Romania. I did the scoping and tender adjudication together with the Brewery, SABMILLER and Blue Projects. The systems were upgraded to the Siemens Braumat Classic V6. Managed the changes needed at Umfolozi Sugar Mill together with Bosch Projects for the COGEN project. Upgraded the Francistown Water Treatment Works Control and Telemetry System for the Water Utilities Corporation of Botswana. Then programmed and configured Borehole control and Pump station and reservoir control using Allan Bradley PLCs, Adroit SCADA and ELPRO Telemetry systems together with ZS Communications. Upgraded Kagera Sugar Companies Plant network in Tanzania to a device level ring network using Stratix switches. Assisted Fives Fletcher/Cails with a Sugar Mill Infeed and Shredder problem at Sudanese Sugar Company's Assalaya and Sennar Factories. Added more Paint Spec parameters to Toyota South Africa's PBIS MS Access and SQL System.

Mar. 1995 - Oct. 2007Prospecton, Durban, South AfricaManaged the PLC/SCADA software systems. Since then I have enhanced/developed the PLC/SCADA programming standards and have been involved in implementing many changes to existing processes. I have worked closely with the Brewers and the Process Engineers. During my employment at SAB Prospecton, we upgraded all Modicon PLCs to Quantum PLCs and started upgrading 800 series I/O to Quantum I/O. We added in Wonderware’s InSQL historian and implemented an Electronic Quality Management System. Next I was involved in Project Lightyear which involved replacing the Monitrol Scada systems with Wonderware InTouch Scada systems and Archestra, rewriting all the PLC software for Raw Materials handling, Brewing, Fermentation, Maturation, Filtration and Bright Beer handling using Concept FBD Programming, S88 design principals and Rockwell’s RsBatch recipe control software. The final part of Project Lightyear involved rewriting the Utilities software using Unity PLCs programmed in SFC and FBD. Throughout the Lightyear project I had to recode all the process messages for the eQMS system using ArchestrA Scripting.
