Collection Specialist
Peabody Essex MuseumCollection Specialist
Mar. 2009 - Jun. 2015As a Collection Specialist at the Peabody Essex Museum I am in charge of storage and access for a number of curatorial departments at the museum. Compulsory job duties consist of facilitating access to the collection by internal staff of the museum (curators, registrars, conservators, integrated media, public relations, creative services, etc) and external visitors (scholars, researchers, visiting curators, contract/visiting conservators, etc.), installing changing exhibits and performing rotations of artwork in the permanent collection as well as long-term storage improvement projects. Quite often we are also called in to support other departments who work with the museum collection and may be asked to perform many other tasks in an effort to fulfill the museum's mission. I also still perform regularly or occasionally many of the duties described under my experience as a Registration Project Assistant. In addition to overseeing specific portions of the museum collection, I work closely with the other two collection management staff members with projects in their areas.
Store Manager
The Vitamin ShoppeStore Manager
Nov. 2006 - Mar. 2009The store that I most recently managed is located in Harvard Square and is a very successful location that I helped to perform better year to date then it did in previous years. We generally had between 100 and 160 customers a day and average daily sales of $3,000 to $4,500. A large part of the business cultivated at the Vitamin Shoppe is through Market Activation which requires creative networking with other local business and creating exciting events in order to benefit my store as well as our partners. This could be anything from having a local gym come to the store to share the benefits of its facilities, a local naturopath giving consultations on products, a massage or reflexology practitioner performing short sample work for customers or a local healthy restaurant sampling its food for people. The coordination of all these events while maintaining a trained staff, in stock store and excellent customer service is no small task. Couple this with the need to creatively advertise and promote these to ensure that it is a benefit for my store as well as the market partners was a great outlet for my various skills. While manager at Vitamin Shoppe I had four employees under my direct supervision promoted, one to store manager, two to assistant manager and one to key holder.

Jan. 1998 - May. 2006My last position with GNC was Store Manager of a Downtown Boston location. My duties included, but were not limited to: Maintaining store files; hiring, training and maintaining a sales staff; preparing the store according to merchandising manual; ordering third party merchandise; paying vendor invoices in a timely manner; setting store and employee goals to drive business; customer service and effectively controlling store shrink to maximize profits. Through 2006 I consistently ran better then last year in all areas of operation, and while the region as a whole had a 177% turn-over rate of employees I lost only two; one due to a change of employment and the other to school responsibilities.
