Marlene Amelo, MBA, graduated from the FHR Institute for Social Studies/Maastricht School of Management, the Netherlands, with distinction, specializing in Corporate Strategy and Economic Policy. In 2007 she earned her MPhil degree from the same Business School. At present she is pursuing her PhD degree in Leadership from the Radbout University, Nijmegen, the Netherlands. Marlene is a seasoned team oriented business executive and leadership trainer with over 25 years progressive experience in management and more than ten years experience as consultant coach, trainer and facilitator. She is recognized for her organization building and communication skills. She is an innovative thinker. Mrs. Amelo has been Permanent Secretary (PS) for the Ministry of Transport Tourism and Communication and Tourism in Suriname in the period 1996 until 2001. In this period she realized a number of Capacity building projects amongst others in the Air Transport Sector and successfully exerted herself in her capacity as PS for the institutional strengthening of the Air Transport Sector, but also for the equipment of the international airport to adhere the ICAO standards. It was under her leadership that CASAS, Suriname’s Civil Aviation Safety Authority was established and a beginning was made to draft a new, more contemporary air law. Since 2001 Ms. Amelo is working as a Management Consultant and trainer for public and private organizations. Her knowledge and experience in the Surinamese air transport sector and her recent involvement in the Institutional Strengthening of the Transport Sector (ISTS) Project combined with her management skills place her in an excellent position to contribute effectively to the realization of project objectives
