Dr Motlalepula Tait is a pioneering researcher in biotechnology and agricultural solutions, currently leading a groundbreaking project at the Botswana University of Agriculture and Natural Resources' Centre of Bioeconomy. With over a decade of experience, her work focuses on developing climate-smart agricultural technologies that have the potential to transform food security. This research directly supports the Sustainable Development Goals related to ending hunger and climate adaptation. Additionally, she is spearheading national projects aimed at promoting gender equality and equity, advocating for the inclusion of girls and women in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics). Through this initiative, Dr. Tait has successfully secured donor funding to support at least six young female scientists. This funding was provided to female scientists to cover their article publication charges and to offer postgraduate scholarships, with the aim of empowering women and increasing their visibility in the fields of science and technology development.
