Assist the Head of the Gender Office in the design and implementation of a mission-wide action plan to translate existing policies and mandates on the promotion of gender equality in all activities of the peacekeeping mission; Support the delivery of appropriate training for different levels of personnel where required, to facilitate implementation of the plan; Provide ongoing technical advice to the various Mission components to build and expand capacity for gender analysis and the design of gender-sensitive policies and programmes; Undertake ongoing research and analysis on gender issues in UNAMID to inform policy decisions of the peacekeeping mission; Participate and make substantive contributions to the work of established inter-agency coordination mechanisms for gender mainstreaming and to partnership efforts with UN agencies that have complementary mandates for the promotion of women and girls’ rights; Ensure liaison and partnerships with civil society organisations and women’s groups and ensure that all information and outreach activities of the Mission reach and involve women as well as men; Contribute to the implementation of reporting obligations, documentation of good practises, the preparation of policy papers. Frequent interaction with National women’s machinery, particularly with the the Ministry of Social Affairs, Women Advisors, UN Country Team with relevance for UNDP, UNIFEM, UNFPA, UNICEF and UNHCR, National Women’s Organizations and networks, International Non Governmental Organizations working on gender issues, academic and research institutions and regional organizations with representation in the country of deployment.

In collaboration with the advocacy Officer in Khortoum assist the GBV Coordinator with advocacy efforts on GBV issues at state and Khortoum level. Establish field based librarly for GBV in collaboration with GBV GBV Office in Khortoum. Any other duties and tasks as determined by the supervision.
