The goal of this conference is to bring together the very best thinkers in policy, practice and research to present their work and to help set an agenda for moving decarceration forward. Preliminary themes for the conference include: 1. Rethinking Incarceration and the Incarcerated: New perspectives on the function of incarceration and ways we can actively involve ideas of formerly incarcerated individuals to inform criminal justice innovations. 2. Propelling Multisector Social Innovation: Presentations on criminal justice reforms across the criminal justice spectrum that advance smart decarceration. 3. Integrating Policy and Rehabilitation Goals: Novel ways to optimally integrate public policy goals related to civil sanctions and rehabilitation approaches with the formerly incarcerated. 4. Reducing Social Disparities and Reallocating Resources: Strategies for efficient reallocation of incarceration resources and approaches to reducing the overrepresentation of minority populations in incarceration settings. 5. Accelerating research, practice and policy exchanges: Maximizing the timely effect of evidence-based research on practice and policy
