Jan. 2008Randburg, South AfricaThe development of a break-through technology for bulk electrical energy generation. An innovative technology that answers the bulk renewable question and if you haven't asked the question "What does bulk renewable energy actually look like?" Well a simple answer: SA currently has a 43,000 MW generation capacity. If we are to change that to wind (as an example), it means that we need to put in place approx 180,000 MW of installed capacity (to account for the low capacity factor of wind = 22 - 25%). This means 90,000 wind turbines and with a coastline of 3,000 km this equates to a bank of wind turbines 3 deep every km - interesting? We have reached a stage in the development where we are ready for the construction of a demonstration unit that should culminate in a commercial unit that will allow for bulk energy at a price comparable to coal and gas fired energy - very interesting!!! Yip... bulk, renewable energy solved.
