Apr. 2021 - Jun. 2025The Franklin County Office of Justice Policy & Programs (OJPP) is the metropolitan Criminal Justice agency directed by the Franklin County Board of Commissioners (BOC) and County Administration. OJPP also serves as the fiduciary agent responsible for management of Justice grants, allocation of federal, state, and local funding and oversight of the Franklin County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). OJPP is 1 of 4 Health & Human Services agencies under Franklin County BOC utilizing innovative, human-centric design models to better serve our community. Reentry is one of OJPP’s primary initiatives focused on practice & policy change, individualized reentry planning (pre/post release), and improved fidelity of direct services. OJPP leads and initiates progress of the Franklin County Stepping Up Initiative which aims to reduce the number of residents diagnosed with mental health disorders from entering incarceration. Through multi-disciplinary efforts, OJPP spearheads several initiatives such as intimate partner violence (IPV) prevention and enhancement of response, in addition to overdose prevention, harm reduction, and deflection to curb the impact of addiction and the overdose epidemic. OJPP provides comprehensive strategic planning, technical assistance, and project development to various local, state, and federal agencies through the lens of smart justice, race equity, and data-driven decision-making with representation on several boards and committees across the nation. OJPP supports several youth serving initiatives aimed to reimagine Juvenile Justice and solidify effective alternatives to detention. OJPP also serves as the administrative agency to both the Franklin County Criminal Justice Planning Board and Reentry Advisory Board.
