I recognized immediately that the teachers, and even the community, did not trust the administrators. I also recognized that the teachers in the district needed technology training to use the technology they already had effectively with students. During my two years there, I personally provided over 140 training sessions for teachers. The extreme amount of time that I spent visibly on local school campuses caused me to become known as the most trusted administrator in the district, and allowed me to lead major projects through to completion without opposition from bargaining units.

I was a part of the small team of innovative people who created the Virtual Enterprise program in California and the KernLearn assessment portal. I served as the head of technology for both projects and worked closely for the first time with teachers and students to develop them. Both projects were absolutely cutting edge.
