Jul. 2016 - Jul. 2019Durban Area, South AfricaThe first 6 months of this experience I worked in the Computational Chemistry lab within Pharmacy and Pharmacology. During this tenure I supervised and mentored PhD and MSc students in the molecular modelling and drug design. I carried out research activities according to an outlined project plan designed by myself adhering to tight deadlines and maintaining postgraduate and supervisor satisfaction. My duties also included analysing papers and checking data accuracy before publishing research article as well as volunteering as an invited reviewer. I was privileged to have the opportunity of being an Adhoc lecturer during my first six months teaching Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, lecturing to 1st year students (module PHRM142). In this role I was responsible for preparing & administering assessments and standardised tests to evaluate student progress. In the latter 2.5 years I worked with Dr Parvesh Singh in the School of Chemistry and Physics, UKZN. • Supervised and mentored PhD and MSc students. • Designed, managed and implemented projects, using a wide range of research methodologies: molecular dynamics simulation (Amber 12/14 software), Autodock and LigandScout (ligand-based and structure-based screening for drug development). • Developed and managed research outputs, such as publications, maintaining international collaborations and conceptualising project proposals to gain financial support. • Held regular meetings with project leads to obtain an understanding of project progress, issues and other developments.
