Dr Greer Valley is senior curator and head of curatorial affairs at Zeitz Museum of Contemporary African Art in Cape Town. Greer is chairperson of the Africa South Arts Initiative (ASAI) and serves as vice president of the council of the KwaZulu-Natal Society of the Arts. In 2018 she was selected as a curatorial Fellow at the Institute for Creative Arts, and in 2019 a Getty Foundation MAHASSA Fellow (Modern Art Histories in and Across Africa, South and Southeast Asia). In 2019 she was part of the Dak’art Biennale selection committee and was selected as guest curator for the 2022 Dak’art Biennale where she presented the exhibition, Unsettled. In 2024 she was a recipient of the Chancellor's Female Academic Leadership Fellowship (FALF) at the University of the Witwatersrand.
Her research and practice interests include curatorial interventions in institutions and exhibition spaces focused on African colonial histories. Greer is experienced in the visual art, architecture and design industries in South Africa, the Netherlands and the UK.
