The program consisted of intense trekking in the Andes and Amazon where we lived with numerous host families that spoke a variety of dialects. During my time in Urubamba, Peru, I completed an Independent Study Project, volunteering daily at a local agricultural farm. With constant dynamic travel, I was able to develop crucial team bonding and Spanish fluency skills that proved critical, for instance, when setting up camp in the harsh Andean climate or conversing with locals.
