National Science Teaching AssociationNational Science Teaching Association: EQuIP Rubric Reviewer and Sensemaking Tool Reviewer
May. 2025Selected by NSTA to evaluate PreK–12 instructional materials for alignment with the Framework for K–12 Science Education. Apply the NSTA Sensemaking Tool to assess how well lessons support phenomenon-driven, three-dimensional learning, including engagement in science practices, development of disciplinary core ideas, and opportunities for student sensemaking. Provide feedback to both internal teams and external organizations to ensure instructional materials promote equitable, standards-aligned science education. Additionally, serve as an EQuIP Rubric Reviewer, using the Educators Evaluating the Quality of Instructional Products (EQuIP) Rubric to analyze science lessons and units for their alignment to the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). This process involves evaluating the coherence between disciplinary core ideas, science and engineering practices, and crosscutting concepts, as well as examining how materials promote student sensemaking, support teacher implementation, and advance equity and access in science learning.
