On the scene of fatal motor vehicle accidents, fires, bank robberies, snow emergencies, and severe weather events. Collected daily reports of ambulance calls and police/fire responses for weekly log. Maintained 24/7 availability to cover news as it happened. Created a seven-part series on rural homelessness in Miami County that won an Associated Press award for Enterprise Reporting Interviewed sex offenders who were in opposition to city and state laws dictating residency Visited juvenile detention facility, female ward of county jail, and a safe-house for victims of domestic violence for in-depth coverage of social issues within the county Regularly interviewed victims of crimes, criminals, families in crisis, city officials, police chiefs, sheriff's deputies, and officers for articles (Education Beat) Covered the education beat for eight districts, both public and private, in Miami County.
