Sep. 2017 - Jul. 2018Brésil I had the unique opportunity to participate in a community reconstruction project with the Tabacu Reko Ypi tribe, located in the heart of São Paulo, Brazil. This volunteer experience was deeply enriching, allowing me to directly contribute to the restoration of the ancestral homes of this community, which had been devastated by political conflicts. In collaboration with the team from [Organization or Project Name], we undertook the reconstruction of their dwellings, utilizing sustainable building techniques and local materials, primarily reclaimed wood. Each house was designed and built by hand, without the use of machinery for foundations, requiring significant ingenuity and collaboration. This project not only provided homes for the community but also highlighted the importance of preserving ancestral traditions and ecological construction. Teto, an organization renowned for its expertise in prefabricated reclaimed wood houses, played a pivotal role in the design and execution of this project, ensuring durable homes tailored to the community’s needs (estimated lifespan of 20 years). This experience allowed me to develop valuable skills in: Ecological Design and Construction: Utilizing reclaimed materials and sustainable building techniques.
