Apr. 2019LondonHorse’s Mouth is the new creative collective some colleagues and I have put together - it’s essentially a hybrid of the creative department and the production company, where creatives work with directors on a project basis to make premium brand video content which is high quality but low cost. It feels like a logical step as clients are clearly looking for new tools to navigate the changing media consumption landscape and creative people benefit from alternative ways of working outside the strict frameworks of agency/client relationships. The main innovation is in our disruptive cost model - the collective structure - which means we can afford to keep our overhead to almost zero. We call it ‘noverhead’ – no monthly salaries, no fancy office, no sweets on reception, no receptionist, no reception in fact. Plus, by bringing everything together in a collective – creative, production and post, we’ve removed two sets of client mark-up and can deliver every part of every project for one fixed cost, putting all the budget on the screen. The collective has an eclectic range of backgrounds and expertise - drawn from the film industry, TV, publishing, graphic design and old school advertising; a unique set-up which means we write, produce, shoot and edit anything and everything we like in-house.
