Hello! My academic journey so far has been shaped by research work developed throughout my master’s and PhD in astrophysics at the University of São Paulo (USP), as well as a one-year research internship at the Department of Astrophysical Sciences at Princeton University. Astronomy is one of the most data-intensive sciences, generating large volumes of information both through observations from telescopes and through simulations of the Universe. Over the past eight years, all the projects I developed or collaborated on relied heavily on the processing and analysis of large datasets—from querying public databases, through data cleaning and organization (data wrangling), to analysis, interpretation, and publication of results in top international journals in the field. This experience gave me the opportunity to work with SQL for data querying, and to develop cutting-edge research using Python and R for data processing, statistical analysis, data visualization, and algorithm development (including parallelized computation). I also applied various machine learning techniques for regression, clustering, and classification, and collaborated with researchers from multiple countries.
