Sep. 2009 - Aug. 2021Minneapolis, MN•Lead and provide creative and strategic vision for a comprehensive career services office supporting the retention, graduation, and career success of CEHD students and alumni. •Supervise coach and support a career services team providing holistic, inclusive, and impactful resources, services, and programming that intentionally engages students in all aspects of their career development and job search. •Hire, train, coach, mentor, and supervise graduate student interns providing in-depth training/support on equity and diversity specifically focusing on CEHD student populations. •Cultivate a supportive and collaborative team environment strategically utilizing the unique strengths and interests of individual staff members; seeking to find areas that can be improved with innovative solutions. •Evaluate practices, policies, and services initiating innovative approaches that contribute to unit priorities/goals and improve efficiency, quality and outcomes through an equity lens. •Provide holistic, inclusive, and strengths-based career counseling that is grounded in student and career development theory and meets the individual needs of students. •Identify student needs by establishing trust and building authentic relationships through various contact methods (e.g. drop-in and 1-hour appointments, small group, email, phone, and Skype). •Engage students in clarifying and understanding their values, strengths, interests, personality, and multiple identities and how they influence their major/career decision-making and academic/career goals. •Support students in making meaningful connections with alumni, employers, and professionals that build their social capital and contribute to their academic/career success.
