Apr. 2000 - Jun. 2002Responsible for creating and maintaining daily data loads to the data warehouse from Access, Btrieve, text files, Oracle, SQL Databases. This included integrity checks to be sure the data imported correctly and maintaining transactional replication between the production and reporting SQL Servers. Created and maintained reports using Brio Reports.
Created database models for new databases and data marts, and modified the data models for existing databases due to account for new data requirements.
Designed, created and maintained several SQL databases. One was 160 million records and 40 GB in size.
Performed general maintenance, provided user security access, and resolved emergency problems on several MS SQL servers. This includes after hours work to not interfere with the database users. Analyzed queries to determine indexes and data model changes to increase system performance. Assisted the network administrator with backups, backup schedules and restores of databases.
Upgraded development servers from SQL 7.0 to SQL 2000.
Used VB scripts to change parameters in DTS packages. This allowed the automation of many daily import jobs. Used DTS VB scripts and DOS Scripts to create ftp scripts, copy files and verify data imports and exports.
Created DTS packages with decision loops. This would loop through a list of ZIP files in multiple locations and process any file that had not been imported.
Created VB applications to clean a 133 million row data file before importing.
Changed user queries into stored procedures to reduce the load on the database server and WAN.
