May. 2022Tumwater, Washington, United StatesSupported 44 school districts across the five-county Capital Region to expand career-connected learning and career and technical education pathways available to students and youth. Worked collaboratively with local and state agencies, workforce development councils, and regional business networks to create connections for educational leaders seeking to build internship and apprenticeship opportunities for youth and adults.
Outcomes: Provided direct technical assistance to K-12 schools and districts across the region to build, enhance, align, and fund Career and Technical Education programming. Assisted school leadership and teachers to:
o Increase CTE programming in rural districts.
o Submit course applications, Perkins grant applications, and required reporting to the state.
o Increase district funding, high school graduation rates, and equitable access to workforce development opportunities for students through CTE and local partnerships
o Apply for and access CTE grant funding for updated equipment and materials. Assisted education, community, and business organizations as they sought funding through Career Connect Washington program builder, the Washington Job Initiative, and Apprenticeship Building America grants, resulting in over $1M in funding for youth workforce development programming across various orgs and colleges in the Capital Region. Regularly facilitated professional learning sessions and conference presentations for education and business partners, including topics/courses like:
o AI Innovators: AI in Education Series Trainer
o Career and Technical Education in multi-tiered system of supports: Washington MTSS Fest
o Career and Technical Education for Gifted and Talented Students: NAGC State and National Conferences
o STEM Education and Business Partnerships: Thurston County Economic Development Council Conference, Capital STEM Alliance Executive Committee Session, Timberland Regional Library ‘Moving Forward Together’ webinar series
