Jul. 2015 - Sep. 2016La Paz, Cochabamba and Santa Cruz, BoliviaMothering Across Continents (MAC), headquartered in Charlotte, NC, is a 501c3 non-profit through which volunteer "catalysts" receive consulting, coaching & mentoring to develop projects that help raise tomorrow's leaders. Projects often take place in an impoverished location, begin with a pilot and "seed" funding, revolve around education, nutrition, health, joy and peace, and are monitored to achieve dramatic results. As a program of MAC, NewGen Peacebuilders (NGP) is a youth peace education program designed for high school and university students. It draws on principles of peace education familiar to Rotary Peace Fellows (RPF) as well as best practices in peace & global education for youth. One of the key elements of the program is a team peace education project led by youth. These projects have spanned from education inequality, poverty, and domestic violence to international and cultural bridge building, innovative peace conferences, and creative program management. The program content is global/universal in nature, but also adapted/adaptable to local language, issues and cultural circumstances. The program is now globally expanding to countries such as Colombia, Argentina, South Sudan, Ghana, Lebanon, and Thailand (as of 2015). Bolivia was the first year-long, international program for youth of its kind. Mary Stuart´s responsibilities in Bolivia included: - marketing and program recruitment - classroom and program coordinator (including blended learning via online classroom) - consulting, coaching and mentoring youth to develop peace projects - assistance in fundraising, relationship building, outreach and proposal writing - assistance in curriculum development and editing - balancing international standards with local adaptation - event management - program and project evaluations
