Oct. 2020Leads a team of 34 staff in the design, planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting for PEPFAR CDC funded HIV/TB strategic information project, covering technical, grant management oversight and donor reporting. Key Achievements on this role:
• Leveraged on technology to standardize and improve efficiency in conducting data quality audits and data improvement initiatives through development of a national HIV e-DQA mobile application that has been rolled out in all 47 counties in Kenya and used by PEPFAR to conduct national HIV DQAs in Kenya in December 2021 and 2022.
• Promoting data utilisation at national and sub national level through development of the HIV Integrated Clinical Dashboard that is utilized for program performance and data review meetings at national and county level.
• Enhanced PEPFAR – CDC Implementing Partner performance monitoring and timely support for remedial action, through development, support and enhancement of a partner performance platform for monitoring (3PM) and Determined, Resilient, Empowered, AIDS-free, Mentored and Safe (DREAMS) program data.
• Automation of a Budget Monitoring Tool to ensure closer monitoring of partner program implementation and budget execution to provide appropriate and timely support and enable CDC to monitor the trends in financial expenditures towards a more comprehensive tracking of USG investment in the HIV program in Kenya.
• Successfully led and coordinated writing of several technical proposals
Health Strat Limited Senior Technical Advisor - TACT Project
Feb. 2020 - Dec. 2020As a member of the Senior Management and Head of Clinical Department, provided strategic technical direction to a team of improvement specialists supporting 110 prison facilities in provision of TB and HIV prevention and treatment services to inmates, Kenya Prison staff and their families. Worked in close collaboration with the Kenya Prisons Services, AIDS Control Unit, Directorate of Health Services, and project team to plan, implement, monitor and report HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment activities. With an average annual funding of US $2.0 million, the project closed out in September 2020 after six and a half years of implementation. Key Achievements on this role:
• Provided HIV treatment to 9,446 HIV infected inmates, prison staff and their family members • Overall HIV viral suppression rate of 95%.
• Provided HIV prevention services to approximately 500,000 inmates, prison staff and their family members
• Improved TB treatment success rates to 92% at the end of the project. • Successfully led and coordinated writing of several technical proposals

May. 2017 - Feb. 2020NairobiA member of the Senior Management and Head of Department; leading the design, planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting for HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment activities supported by CHS under the PEPFAR funded Tegemeza Plus Project in Central Kenya. With an average annual funding of US $4.8 million, the project at the time of my exit, was in its third year of implementation had 26,359 clients on HIV treatment an overall viral suppression rate of 94% and PMTCT rate of <4%. Successfully transitioned 123 project supported health workers to County Health Management Team.

Feb. 2013 - May. 2017Nairobi, KenyaEntrusted to provide direct technical support to the Division of Health Standards, Quality Assurance and Regulations (DHSQAR), National AIDS and STI Control Program (NASCOP), National Malaria Control Program (NMCP) towards institutionalization of quality improvement at National and County level and improving HIV/TB, PMTCT and malaria program outcomes through evidenced based interventions and development of strategic documents. Key Responsibilities and Achievements on this role:
• Led development of national level quality improvement training package; Kenya HIV Quality Improvement Framework (KHQIF).
• Coordinated national scale up of quality improvement through QI training of county staff and PEPFAR funded implementing partners in 30 high-medium HIV burden counties.
• Provided technical support to establish the National and Nairobi, Kakamega, Kwale and Kisumu County QI technical working groups.
• Successfully led concept design and implementation of integration of quality improvement into pre- service training in three tertiary training institutions which led to development of a draft QI module for pre-service training.
• Instrumental in technical support for protocol development for evaluation of Kenya Mentor Mother Program and the National PMTCT program, Patient self-management study, Homabay County, and Improving point of care HIV testing in Kenya studies.
• Provided mentorship and leadership support to a team of nine Quality Improvement Advisors/ Officers who provide technical support to nine counties to improve HIV/TB, nutrition and malaria program outcomes through application of improvement approaches.
• Actively participated in stakeholder engagement, representing the project at donor, national level and county level meetings.
