Dec. 2016ScotlandSince returning from a 2.5-year global cycle tour I have developed a portfolio career involving consultancy and training, public speaking and writing and being a non-exec board member. I'm passionate about stakeholder engagement, social impact and opportunity creation. I really enjoy working with companies on strategic stakeholder relations and feeding into future strategy and action planning. I have over 25 years' experience in the non-profit sector covering various activities from marketing, finance, HR and programme and event management and hold an Exec. MBA from Cranfield University. I'm currently working on a variety of projects including housing, circular economy, nature, impact investment and ESG assessments. Other projects have includes oversight of the Buy Social Scotland campaign and Corporate Challenge programme and international social enterprise development. As a freelancer I have supported the development of various training and support programmes, awareness campaigns, marketing reviews and policy insights. Having started my career in waste and recycling back in the late 90s I continue to have a strong interest in the Circular Economy with a particular focus on the alignment of social and environmental principles. I currently Chair Circular Communities Scotland. Prior to working freelance I was a full time carer for my mother and CEO of Scottish Charity Firstport - supporting new and emerging social entrepreneurs across Scotland.

Jul. 2012GlobalHaving signed up for a world bike challenge in 2011 that was later cancelled I then planned a twelve month cycle tour with a fellow participant. Sadly news regarding my mothers health ended that trip too but as news on an initial diagnosis was not as bad as first diagnosed the experience changed to a series of five month-ish tours. I finally left in July 2012 with a man I'd met just three times. We ended up riding 32,000km. Starting with a tour from Seattle to San Francisco we then went to Japan, over the Thorong-la pass in Nepal and into India. Cairo to Capetown was the next destination before a trip down to Alpe D'huez for the Tour de France. We continued over the Alps and into Southern Italy and then rode through South East Asia. In 2014 we cycled New Zealand, Australia, Denmark and finished in Turkey. If you're interested in hearing more about cycling the globe, want to commission travel articles or publish a best seller on riding the world with a complete stranger then do drop me an email. [email protected]. I have developed a one hour presentation about my trip which can be adapted as required by length, audience or focus. My book 'The World at 15mph...ish' is available on Amazon and through all good book shops. To date book sales have included USA, NZ, Australia and the EU. Live the dream.
