Dr Benjamin Glasson is an interdisciplinary scholar currently serving as a Landhaus Fellow at the Rachel Carson Center in Munich. His academic work critically investigates culture, media, and environmental politics, with a special emphasis on discursive obstacles to environmental engagement and the role of multiple modes of knowing in shaping public discourse. His research has appeared in highly regarded international peer-reviewed journals, including: • European Journal of Cultural Studies (“Reality Offsets: Climate Meets Capitalism at the Olympic Games,” 2025) • Journal of Sport and Social Issues (“Carbon Partners and Collaborative Greenwashing,” 2024, with Brett Hutchins) • Communication and Critical/Cultural Studies (“Environmental Myth‑Work,” 2022) • Psychoanalysis, Culture & Society (“Forward to Nature: Ecological Subjectivity After the Discursive Turn,” 2017) • Journal of Political Ideologies (“Subversive Rearticulation Between Radicalism and Reform,” 2015) • Continuum: Journal of Media & Cultural Studies (“The Intellectual Outside: Anti‑Intellectualism and the Subject of Populist Discourses in Australian Newspapers,” 2012) Dr Glasson gained his PhD in environmental politics from the University of Melbourne, and undertook a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at Monash University. He is an acknowledged leader in innovative classroom learning techniques, having coordinated and led undergraduate and Master's level courses in media, communication, politics and sociology. In addition to his academic expereince, Ben brings a strong journalistic background, having contributed to outlets such as The Australian, The Herald Sun, and WellBeing magazine, reporting on environmental and social issues with clarity and energy. Blending scholarly rigour with media communication, Ben’s work combines conceptual clarity with public engagement, aiming to enrich both academic discourse and social understanding.
