Feb. 2011 - Jan. 2013MaineMPVC was a volunteer powered political group in Maine that sprang up in the first year of Paul LePage's term as Governor. In just two words the purpose and goal of the MPVC was “People Power.” At MPVC, the vision of people power was achieved through the creation and continuing development of a statewide communication network (MPVC-NET) consisting of Maine people using the best currently available technology to: 1) Distribute timely information; 2) Provide skills training to those in need to connect people to the tools they need to take effective civic action; and, 3) Unite Maine people in supporting a variety of actions to impact elections, affect passage of legislation in the Maine Legislature, initiate needed legislation, and make use of the Maine constitutional provisions for a “People’s Veto" when needed. The Social Networking & Website Manager was responsible for generating training materials, maintaining social campaigns for Twitter/FB/UStream, and website management. MPVC disbanded shortly after longtime Democratic leader (artist, writer, organizer and all around excellent human being) and acting director Ed Schlick, passed away.
