Franklin Township Board of EducationMiddle School Mathematics Teacher
Sep. 2013 - Jun. 2016Franklin, NJI served as a Pre-Algebra Teacher, instructing students in the foundational concepts that form the bridge to more advanced mathematical understanding. In addition to my classroom responsibilities, I enthusiastically ran an after-school mathematics program, offering an engaging space for students to explore mathematical ideas beyond the standard curriculum. During my time teaching pre-algebra, I focused on making the subject approachable and relevant, using real-world examples to illuminate abstract concepts. I believe that a strong grasp of pre-algebra can set the stage for success in future mathematical endeavors, and I worked diligently to instill this understanding in my students. The after-school mathematics program was an extension of this philosophy. It provided an opportunity for students to delve deeper, challenge themselves, and discover the joy in problem-solving. I carefully designed activities that were both fun and educational, nurturing a community of learners who supported each other's growth. Collaborating with fellow educators, parents, and administrators, I ensured that both my classroom teaching and the after-school program were aligned with the broader educational goals of the school. I also sought continuous professional development, embracing new methods and technologies that could enhance the learning experience. Though I have moved on from this specific role, the impact it had on my students and myself continues to resonate. Witnessing their progress, their growing confidence in tackling mathematical challenges, and their excitement for learning was not only fulfilling but also reaffirmed my commitment to education. My time as a pre-algebra teacher and leader of the after-school program stands as a cherished chapter in my educational journey.
